New Beginnings

Suddenly having a larger amount of free time has really allowed me to think about what I should be doing with that time. I have a lot of time I can now dedicate to myself. They say when one door closes, another opens. I am hoping that now the door has closed on someone else, that I can open the door to myself. 

Over the last couple of years I stopped watching TV. Not for any good reason, just because I’m not all that good at sitting down and relaxing - I would much rather be doing something productive with that time. So I have watched a couple of box sets; Jane The Virgin and Gossip Girl. Any recommendations on what to watch next whilst I wait for Game of Thrones would be great!

In the run up to my holiday, which I go on next week, I’ve been wondering what to do when I get back.

I’ve always loved writing. That is the whole reason you are reading this now. It’s always been my passion and what I’ve been good at. I’d constantly write short stories or essays for fun. Yes, I am THAT person. So, I took the plunge. I have started writing a book. I’ve written two chapters around 6000 words so far and I have loved getting my creative juices flowing. The book will take a back seat whilst I’m away but I’m looking forward to picking it back up when I get home.

Another thing I will be focusing on and that will be documented on here after my holiday is my health and fitness. If you’ve read some of my previous posts, you’ll know that my mental health has taken a significant hit recently. I’m looking forward to taking time for myself and figuring that out. I’m also going to be working on my physical fitness. It’s time to get my diet and exercise back on track to lose some weight. 

I will also be focussing on decluttering my life. I have a lot of stuff, I mean boxes full of it that I haven't looked at in years. I have old things from my childhood that I definitely don't need. Sure, some of it is sentimental and I will keep those bits. But a lot of it can go. I would like my new house to be a modern reflection of me - no clutter, no bits on the sides, just plain and simple. 

I will also be looking towards Christmas. I love Christmas and I am really looking forwards to spoiling my dogs! Now that I don't have a big family to buy for and I am shorter on money than I would like to be, I am looking forward to doing simple things like crafts and baking. I am going to buy stockings for my dogs because I am also that person. My dogs are my babies and who doesn't spoil their kids a little bit at Christmas?

I always suffer from a case of wanderlust and, although I blame one of my friends for this (she will know it is her!), I have a love of new places. They don't have to be abroad, they can be here in the UK. I'd like to go to places I have always wanted to go - California, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai. I'd also like to take my dogs on a little break somewhere (once they have calmed down a little!). 

My final thing I want to spend time on is my friends and family. When things went wrong, they were there to put it back together. I have friends that I hadn't seen in years that I would like to spend more time with and friends who I see almost every day that I'd still like to see. 

So, the future is bright. Things are going to be busy - exactly how I want them to be! 

Top 3 Travel Bucket List | Competition

I am suffering from severe wanderlust at the moment, and I won't be able to satisfy that until the end of August - gah. 

I love, love, love travelling, but I haven't had the opportunity to do much exploring yet. So I thought I would share with you my top 3 places I would like to visit and explore!


1. Tokyo, Japan
Everything about Tokyo entices me. I love Japanese culture, and I am a big fan of Anime. I've watched so many vlogs on YouTube where people visit Tokyo, and I am dying to go. I want to see the differences in cultures, experience some of the crazy attractions, taste the food, and visit the Ghibli museum. I will go there in the next few years.

2. South Africa
I've always wanted to visit anywhere in South Africa, but Ben Brown on YouTube is really fuelling this. I really want to visit Cape Town - it has amazing beaches, and loads of really good coffee shops by the looks of things. But I also want to see all the wildlife, and visit Kruger National Park. Going on safari is on my lifetime bucket list, so I really want to tick that off. I also would loooove to visit the Cango Caves, where you can do an adventure tour!

3. Siem Reap, Cambodia 
Siem Reap is home to the ruins of the Angkor temples, which literally scream exploration. It also is so close to the main parts of Cambodia which are the best places to go travelling. Typical backpacking destination, but it looks incredible!

Where do I go from here?

As many of you possibly know, mainly from previous posts, I am having one of those existential crisis moments. I have no idea what career to embark upon when I leave university...which is in a years time *yelp*.

When I graduate in 2015 I will have studied criminology and criminal justice studies for 3 years, which is an extremely long time to stick at something that puts you about £60k in debt and that you have learned to absolutely hate. 

When I first started university I thought it would be a great subject to study, but it fell a close second to my preferred subject of law - something I adored from A Level's but did not think I would get the grades to study. In true form I got considerably more than the required grades to study law but had applied to study criminology so I settled with that.

Over the last two years I have grown very sick of it, and frankly do not wish to have a career in the criminal justice system or any related field. This has now posed a little bit of a problem for me, as I am back to square one; something I thought I had escaped 3 years ago! 

I put logic to this situation and wrote a list of what I enjoy and what I am passionate about. It went a little something like this:

1. Writing

2. My blog

3. Social media

4. The internet

5. Travel

The obvious thing that jumped out to me from all this was that the first and second things on my list essentially combined into one main aspect surrounding writing. 

So where could I go from here?

I thought a career at Google would have been fantastic, then upon further research discovered that there basically isn't an opportunity there for someone graduating with a criminology degree.

I considered other aspects such as Maker Studios - something I have seen from the Shaytards vlogs (take a look if you haven't heard of them, Shay Carl and his family are AMAZING). Yet again I came to a dead end because they recruit talent based on YouTube content - shockingly something I also lack.

Maybe I could go towards a Twitter or Tumblr career? I do not know. The possibilities are endless, I just need help in finding something I completely enjoy doing.

My ideal career would involve travelling and documenting it on my blog, but doing so for a big social media company. Obviously this is such a far-fetched idea that even I am aware it is pretty impossible. But it's worth a shot right?

Final city list for my world tour!

Hello there, buddies!

So if you are a regular reader you will be aware that I am planning on travelling the world with my trusty companions +James Martin (Blog God), +Ryan Steppel (Mr Milk), and +Vikki Lamb. We had an extremely long conversation the other day where we have finally managed to put together a final list of all the cities we will be visiting! So naturally, I thought I would share this with you guys! 

We have also decided to pitch our idea of travelling with a few companies who might be interested so that we can get both publicity for the company and more expertise on travelling! As you might have heard, the 2015-2016 budget cuts have been announced and the departments with the most cuts are the criminal justice system and the Ministry of Justice - which kinda screws me over as these are the industries I will be trying to work in and 2015 is the year I graduate from uni, so I am kinda stuck. So I am going to attempt to get a job. save for a few years and go travelling to make me more employable - and because I am an ultimate tourist!

As you can see, we are going to be extremely busy bee's.

We have come to the conclusion that we are going to take two years to travel this, including spending approximately 6 months in Australia as we want to travel the entirety of the country instead of just select cities like in the other countries.

We also came to the idea that we could drive through Europe. We would love to travel in one of those old VW Campers, but then had a bit of a reality check as we found out they are like £10 000 each.....bit over expensive for us really......so we are back to flying and trains and whatnot.

And we thought that as we have shared all this stuff with you guys already that we should document the entire thing on YouTube! We came up with a name for our channel: 730 Days In Transit! My travelling section of my blog will now be under that name and anything about our trip will be found on there. This includes updates between now and going, and when we are on the move!

I am planning a world tour!

Hello there, buddies!

Random post incoming! 

This really is random and has nothing to do with anything that I usually write on here but I thought I should tell you anyway.

I am going to travel the world, yaaay!

I am planning a World Tour with +James Martin (BlogGod), +Vikki Lamb (if she wants) and possibly +Ryan Steppel (Mr Milk) (if he so accepts this mission) where we will be visiting almost every country in the world.

I know, we are crazy. We won't be doing hotels or any of that crap, we are talking proper backpacking round the world. How bloody awesome is that!? 

I have just spent about 3 hours putting together a list of all the cities and countries we want to visit. 

Now this will take us about 5 years to save for, and we are looking at taking about 2 years to do the travelling, give or take 5 months.
