The Tea Monologues | Disney's Hollywood Studios

Afternoon, all!

Hollywood Studios has changed rapidly over the last few years, with even more changes to happen!

The main entrance (above) and the main walkway into the park really feel very Hollywood to me. Obviously I am basing this on the TV view of Hollywood style considering I have never set foot there outside of the Disney version. I am clearly not very well travelled.

I am still yet to go on the Tower of Terror... But I love standing to watch the doors open and see the lifts plummet! I will go on this one day, when everyone else decides they aren't too scared of it...

I adore the Great Movie Ride! This has had a new sponsor since I was last here, as you can see by the below shot, it is now sponsored by TCM. As sceptical as I was, I quite enjoyed the added scenes at the final part. Even if, obviously, there was a slight Frozen takeover.

Clearly Frozen Fever is still spreading like wildfire!

Frozen Summer fun was in full force in its last few days whilst we were there. This involved Olaf's Summer Cool Down. As much as I did enjoy the film when it came out, there is only so much Frozen craziness you can take *echem, Maelstrom, echem*. Sorry, I appear to have developed a cough.

Although I do miss the Sorcerer's Hat, I love the fact that the Chinese Theatre is back to being the main focus of the park. It is such a lovely building (and of course, houses The Great Movie Ride). You can also find a few of Mickey's friends hanging out around here.

I first saw Lights, Motors, Action in Disneyland Paris in the early 2000's. Not so surprisingly, Disney announced it would be closing to make way for Star Wars land. At least, as far as I am aware, there are no plans to close the one at Disneyland Paris, so it will still be an available experience.

I am not sure on the addition of Lightning McQueen, but I guess that adds something for the younger ones in the audience.

This was the first time I had ever done Rock n Roller Coaster as it had a very short queue. So much so that we managed to get back on a few times.

Back to everything Frozen!

It would appear the normal parade was binned in favour for a new smaller Frozen spectacle. Although I am gutted to see the normal parade go, the Frozen one wasn't too out of place, although I am not sure on that Kristoff.

In place of the American Idol Experience (I never saw this so not too fussed) is the Frozen Sing Along Celebration.

I was typically expecting to be unimpressed. For me, the narrators (or storytellers) made this show. They were funny, and there were parts in there for the adults to have a giggle at. I quite enjoyed it.

Yes, I sang along.

To end the evening, we saw Fantasmic.

It is still as awesome as usual.

As part of the Frozen Summer Fun, Hollywood Studios had fireworks set to the Frozen music (much alike the same style as Wishes in Magic Kingdom).

These were actually really good. However, I was stood next to the bloody traffic light on the main path that dings every 3 minutes. Silly mistake.

It even snowed!

Although we didn't manage to get this in on our first day in Hollywood Studios, we went back to do Pixar Place.

I still love Toy Story Mania and I cannot wait for the added track!

What trip to Hollywood Studios is complete without a bit of Pizza Planet and a bit of the Muppets?! I will be intrigued to see if they do anything with the refurbishment of Pizza Planet. It does seem a little dated now. I would personally like to see it resemble the one in the films a lot better.

Besides the likes of Indiana Jones and Beauty and the Beast (which I did see), there isn't particularly much else in Hollywood Studios at the moment.

There are rumours of another rename (sigh). To me it will always be Disney's MGM Studios, but whatever they call it I am sure will be fine.

I am looking forward to seeing the developments of Hollywood Studios in the next few years. I just really hope it doesn't lose the old feel, and become too Star Wars orientated. Only one way to see, I guess.

Until next time.

The thing Disney is missing

I am a huge Disney fan, quite possibly the biggest Disney fan. Yet I can't help thinking there is something the Disney family is missing.

No, I don't mean me...although I would argue that, too. Hint, hint.

I love the Disney princesses. I mean, just look at them.

Their stories are all so different, and yet I feel they are mostly the same. I don't know why.

There are some things I really wish Disney would include in a Disney Princess, and some attributes that I really wish they would include from some of the others.

A tattooed Princess.
From my research on Disney World jobs, I am fully aware of how opposed to tattoos the Disney company is. I watched my Disney World job dream float around the river bend and into a whole new world when I found out. But why? In a society that is mostly acceptive of tattoos and body art, why is Disney so old fashioned? I could understand with some of their jobs (characters etc.) but oh my goodness. I think they should have a tattooed princess. I mean, how awesome would that be? *queue all the negative comments about how a tattooed person degrades themselves, such as the comments I get on twitter*.

Another Princess who just doesn't give a damn.
I love Anna (Frozen) because she wakes up, hair a mess and drool down her face; yet the others wake up looking like they have had a catwalk make-up artist work on them during night, and have birds and animals make their beds.

A Princess whose waist isn't as small as my little finger.
Now queue all the comments about me being a fat pig, such as my "concepts of beauty" post! I want more Princesses like Merida (Brave) who isn't overly skinny and doesn't mind a diddy bit of mud. Yet it disappoints me that even when Disney makes a Princess who doesn't have a teeny waist, they edit her down for the promo photos. Please, Disney, stop with these teeny tiny waists that make me jealous. Give me a Princess who is rather partial to a McDonald's and loves munching on doughnuts.

More Maleficent.
Maleficent was a breath of fresh air in the Disney world, and it was an incredible film. I don't think I need to say much else, here. After all, a villain is just a victim whose story hasn't been told, right?

More Princesses who do more than talk to animals and search for a Prince.
Let's have more Mulan, more Tiana, more Merida, and more Belle. I don't know about you, but I don't wake up every day and have a conversation with the birds chirping outside my window unless I am telling them to shut up. I also happen to do the cleaning myself without the help of some deer, rabbits or turtles! I mean, Mulan saved China, Tiana has her own business, Merida climbs cliffs, and Belle reads books. Why can't we have more of that sort of thing?

Another Princess who doesn't only wear dresses.
Don't get me wrong, I am partial to a nice girly dress, but they are so not practical and I tend to favour leggings. Jasmine (Aladdin) had the right idea, and she still looked good. I get that they might have been traditional to the time period they were dressed for, but jeez! Let's see some more modern dressed Princesses!

I volunteer to play the next awesome Disney Princess, or at least help create her! So, Disney...call me!

What traits would you like a Disney Princess to have?

Would you like to see some changes to Disney?

The Disney tag

Well then, isn't this a fantastic tag! Thanks to Little Boots for tagging me in this! If any of you are regular readers, or happen to know me well, you will be well informed that I am an avid Disney fan. So as you can image, I am very excited to be doing this tag; and I think you can expect some rather interesting answers for the next however long it takes for me to do this tag!

So without further ado, here we go!

1. Favourite Disney film
My all time favourite Disney film is actually a Disney/Pixar film and it is "Finding Nemo". If you know me this will not come as a shock to you. I own so much "Finding Nemo" merchandise...even my phone case is Nemo. I can't even tell you why I love it so much, it just captured me beyond the explanation provided by words. I have seen the film so many times that it may be possible that I know the entire script by heart. If I don't go to the Finding Dory premiere I will be gutted - Ellen DeGeneres....you need to know this. I'll be waiting at P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney.

2. Favourite Disney character
My favourite character happens to not be from any of the Disney movies, but actually from the original gang - Goofy! I love his absentmindedness and complete clumsiness...reminds me of someone... His laugh sure does make me giggle (if you didn't hear his laugh in your head and read that in his voice then tut tut). He also happens to be pretty much best friends with Mickey Mouse, so you don't get much cooler than that do you?

3. Favourite Disney princess
Without a doubt my favourite princess is Mulan; I happen to think that movie is extremely underrated and isn't given enough credit in the Disney line of things. The song Reflection in the movie happens to have one of the best lyrics in a Disney film. I love the fact she is independent, which I know can be argued with many of the princesses, especially the modern ones. But in the case of Mulan, she gives up pretty much everything for her family and proves everyone wrong, something I admire quite a lot.

4. Would you rather be Aurora or Cinderella?
Although both princesses have some pretty good aspects, I am set on Cinderella. I think that might be just because Prince Charming is a million times better looking than Prince Phillip. Having said that, Charming forgot Cinderella's face within 24 hours...but she does have a nicer dress. I just don't quite comprehend the whole "I have slept for 100 years but woken up looking like I have just come off a runway, and I haven't eaten or whatever in ages" thing - and the original storyline doesn't quite help Aurora's case.

5. Would you rather be Hercules or Tarzan?
Most definitely Tarzan. I mean, who doesn't want to swing from trees and vines, and goddammit that man has abs. Sorry Hercules, even if you have a flying horse and a God as a dad, I want to be able to speak to elephants and sing awesome catchy songs in someone else's campsite.

6. Would you rather be Lizzie McGuire or Raven Baxter?
I grew up watching more of Lizzie McGuire, and didn't she have the coolest 90s hairstyles? I would have to say her, mainly because she has an awesome group of friends. Oh and her movie....*sings badly* this is what dreeeeaaams are made of!

7. Favourite Disney song
Kiss The Girl from "The Little Mermaid". Such an amazing song (even Peter Andre's version was good). If you can recreate Prince Eric as a real human being, smack a few tattoos on his body, and make him sing that song to me...he can kiss me as much as he likes.

8. Which Disney character would be your ideal best friend?
I can seriously see myself being friends with someone like Ana from "Frozen" - and no I am not just jumping on the hype here (although it's a fabulous film). I was sold within a few minutes of her main appearance when she woke up looking normal with her hair poking in all directions and still half asleep. The fact she is completely crazy probably helps matters here...me and her could definitely build a snowman.

9. Which Disney character would be your pet?
If you want me to be incredibly precise, I would have Roly from "101 Dalmatians". If you don't know which puppy that is, he is the fat one who always says funny things. I just want to cuddle him aaaallll day, and we can sit and watch Thunderbolt together. Life would be awesome.

10. Have you been to Disneyland?
Oh yes! Well, Walt Disney World in Florida many times (I am going back next year, yay!). I have also been to Disneyland Paris more times than I can count on one hand! My mission is to venture out to Disneyland in California, Disneyland in Tokyo, DisneySea, and a the others that I have missed due to it being 11pm. I will have been to them all before I die!

That, my lovelies, was the Disney tag. I challenge any of you guys to do this tag. Let me know you've done it so that I can see it too!

As always thank you for reading, stay tuned for a few more posts coming soon. All my social media is over there on the right so click away!

Speak to you next time, lovelies.
